In 2024, CMOC continued to implement its Environmental Policy, which is applicable to the entire Group. Among the most prominent ESG issues influencing CMOC is the environment, encompassing climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, biodiversity, tailings management, energy, water management, air quality, and mine closure planning, and rehabilitation. As a global mining company, CMOC management of such must meet the diverse climatic, geographical, ecological, and human environment challenges present where we operate, as well as the changing and evolving expectations of stakeholders. CMOC is committed to complying with environmental laws and regulations applicable to our operations. We manage the extent of our environmental impact through risk-management-based approaches to material issues and adherence to standards.
We also invest in a range of projects to raise production efficiency and reduce our environmental impact. In 2024, while maintaining its MSCI ESG AA rating, CMOC was included in the FTSE4 Good Index Series for the first time and was awarded The Copper Mark.
All of our operations maintain a mature Environmental Management System (EMS) certified to the ISO 14001 standard. These management systems are independently audited at each operating site and include required training of all employees and contractors on environmental objectives and procedures.
