Kisanfu Mining (KFM) recently held a handover ceremony for projects under its 2025-2026 Community Development Agreement (Cahier des Charges), officially transferring 10 community infrastructure projects completed during the second year of implementation to communities within the Bayeke Chiefdom. The milestone underscores KFM’s continued commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable local development, while further strengthening the foundation of its long-term partnership with neighboring communities.

The Bayeke Chiefdom is an important traditional and local administrative authority in the region, playing a significant role in community affairs around KFM’s operations. The 10 projects delivered through this initiative address some of the area’s most pressing development needs, covering education, healthcare, community facilities, energy access, and economic empowerment.

Advancing Education

In Mayeba and Bwasalangana villages, KFM constructed six standard classrooms complete with sanitation facilities. The company also supplied textbooks for primary school grades one through six, classroom furniture, and office equipment for teachers. In addition, perimeter walls were built for schools in Mayeba, Dikanda, and Bwasalangana to enhance campus safety and provide a more secure learning environment.

Improving Healthcare Services

To improve access to healthcare and respond to growing community needs, KFM constructed a new maternity ward at the Mayeba Health Center. At the Kisanfu Gare Health Center, the company added fully equipped maternity and inpatient wards, complete with medical equipment and essential medicines, significantly improving local healthcare capacity.

Creating Community Spaces

For the first time, multifunctional community halls were established in Kisanfu Gare, Mayeba, and Dikanda. Equipped with chairs, kitchen facilities, and other amenities, these halls will serve as venues for community meetings, weddings, traditional ceremonies, and a variety of social activities.
In Kisanfu Gare, KFM also completed the construction of a community radio station and a modern marketplace, expanding access to information while supporting local economic activity.

Supporting Livelihoods and Energy Access

To strengthen local economic resilience, KFM built a brick-making facility in Kisanfu Koni village and grain storage warehouses in Mayeba, Dikanda, and Kisanfu Gare, helping farmers preserve crops and seeds more effectively.

To address electricity shortages in remote communities, multifunctional solar charging stations were installed in Kalebi, Bwasalangana, and Mushi Wa Mumba villages. In addition, household solar power systems were deployed to 92 families in Mibanze and 60 families in Kawala, improving access to reliable energy and enhancing daily living conditions.

Celebrating a Shared Achievement

The handover ceremony was attended by representatives of the Paramount Chief, the resident administrative authority of Kisanfu, representatives of the Koni Land Chiefdom, members of local development committees, and other community leaders, who joined KFM in witnessing the official transfer of the projects and signing the handover documents.

“We have witnessed the tangible results delivered through the Community Development Agreement projects, and KFM’s efforts are clearly visible,” said the representative of the Paramount Chief. “These projects will directly benefit local residents and contribute to improving their quality of life.”
