CMOC Brasil recently marked the completion and opening of the Sebastião de Pádua Road in Catalão, Goiás, Brazil, commonly known as the “Mining Road”. The project represents another important step in the company’s commitment to high-standard ESG practices, local infrastructure improvement and community development.

With a total length of approximately five kilometers, the road broke ground on July 23, 2025, and was jointly funded by the Municipality of Catalão, CMOC Brasil and several other companies. As a key transport corridor used by more than 2,000 trucks each day, the road connects local communities, agricultural production areas, industrial zones and the Catalão chemical complex. Following completion, the project is expected to improve logistics efficiency by 30%, while significantly improving conditions for heavy vehicles, reducing road dust and lowering traffic safety risks.

At the opening ceremony, Catalão Mayor Velomar Rios said the road had long been anticipated by residents along the route. He described it as a “road of well-being” that brings safer and more convenient travel to workers, farmers, drivers and families, and as a model of close cooperation between the municipal government and CMOC Brasil. He added that the opening of the road would provide strong momentum for Catalão’s industrial upgrading and economic development.

Eduardo Lima, Vice President of CMOC Brasil, said the section had posed challenges for local communities and businesses for many years due to deteriorating road conditions. The completed project, he noted, has brought tangible improvements to daily travel for tens of thousands of residents and has delivered shared benefits for multiple stakeholders.

The project goes beyond traditional corporate philanthropy and marks an important milestone in CMOC Brasil’s localized operations strategy. In recent years, CMOC Brasil has continued to invest in community initiatives across economic development, education and training, community health, culture and sports, infrastructure, sustainability, diversity and inclusion. By building mutual trust with local governments, listening to community needs and creating shared value, the company is helping foster a more sustainable development ecosystem in its host communities in Brazil.
