CMOC Brasil has received two awards at the 28th edition of the Mining and Metallurgical Industry Excellence Award, one of Brazil’s major recognitions for mining and metallurgy, underscoring the company’s continued progress in technological innovation, operational efficiency and sustainable development.
Promoted by Revista Minérios & Minerales, the award recognizes companies and professionals whose technical solutions generate positive impact for Brazil’s mining and metallurgical industries. The awards won by CMOC Brasil were granted to projects developed by its niobium and phosphate operations, both demonstrating the company’s ability to translate innovation into measurable business and sustainability results.

In the niobium operation, CMOC Brasil was recognized for the project “Strategic substitution of inputs in ferroniobium aluminothermic production.” The initiative reviewed and optimized materials used in ferroniobium production, introducing more competitive alternatives with lower environmental impact, including recycled aluminum and calcium nitrate. By improving input flexibility, reducing production costs and supporting lower carbon emissions, the project further strengthens CMOC Brasil’s competitiveness in low-carbon niobium metallurgy.
In the phosphate operation, the company was awarded for the project “Increased conversion of total phosphorus to CNA and improved physical quality in SSP due to the use of a reaction-accelerating additive.” Developed at CMOC Brasil’s Phosphate unit in Catalão, Goiás, the solution enhanced a key stage of fertilizer production by improving the conversion rate and physical properties of single superphosphate (SSP). It also contributed to lower unit production costs, expanded granular fertilizer capacity and supported a historical production record at the unit in 2025.
The two award-winning projects reflect a shared approach across CMOC Brasil’s operations: applying technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration to solve operational challenges, enhance productivity and advance more efficient and environmentally responsible processes.
