Recently, TFM held a handover ceremony for seven community projects, marking the official delivery of infrastructure and public services promised in the company's Scope Statement for Community Development (Cahier Des Charges) to local residents. The ceremony was attended by key local officials, including the Minister of Mines of Lualaba Province, traditional chiefs, and other community leaders, who witnessed this milestone moment.

As early as 2021, TFM signed a Scope Statement for Community Development with the local community worth over $31 million, covering a wide range of areas such as healthcare, education, agriculture, infrastructure, youth support, and women’s empowerment. These projects not only impact the quality of life for approximately 400,000 residents of Fungurume and surrounding areas, but also lay a solid foundation for the future development of the entire community.

Looking back over the past few years, TFM has made sustained efforts in malaria prevention, education support, and infrastructure development. Malaria remains one of the most significant public health challenges in the DRC, long threatening the health of local residents. Since its establishment in the region in 2006, TFM has remained steadfast in its commitment to malaria control. During the ceremony, TFM launched a distribution initiative, providing 120,000 mosquito nets to the community. This action not only reflects TFM's support for national public health policies but also demonstrates the company’s deep sense of responsibility towards the mining area’s broader community.

Education is also a cornerstone of development. In addition to its healthcare initiatives, TFM proudly distributed back-to-school supplies to over 2,000 students in the community. This initiative, a collaboration with UNICEF, aims to create a conducive learning environment for children, promoting their growth and development.

In terms of infrastructure development, TFM delivered several projects to the community, including the Kakule Bridge, 16 manual water pumps for villages, the new Nguba Market, and two tractor sheds. These projects have not only improved residents' basic living conditions but also injected new vitality into the local economy. Furthermore, TFM has begun the construction of a 2.3-kilometer road in Fungurume, which will significantly enhance transportation infrastructure in the region.

TFM’s commitment goes beyond today’s handover ceremony. Each project represents the company’s long-term vision for community development. Through continuous investment in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and agriculture, TFM has created numerous opportunities for local residents, contributing to the prosperity and well-being of the entire region.
