2023-11-26 17:54:48

In an unprecedented project in Goiás, the company is bringing the BookTruck, a customized van that makes available a collection of 800 books, as well as giving rides to a troupe that offers fun, storytelling and recreational activities for all ages. The initiative is taken to municipal schools in Catalão and Ouvidor between April 17 and 28. And on the 29th, the BookTruck will be at 10am in Ouvidor - on Gov. Irapuã Costa Júnior Avenue, in front of the Old Station; and from 2pm in Catalão, on Farid Miguel Safatle Avenue, in front of the Catalan Academy of Letters and Digital Library.

The coming of the project to Catalão and the region celebrates two important world dates, World Book Day (24) and World Education Day (28), and is related to the UN's Sustainable Development Goal number 4 - Quality Education, which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The BookTruck is a fully customized van and its interior has been transformed into a library, which also includes play materials and digital resources. It is a project that is accessible to all: inside there are audiobooks and Braille books for visually impaired readers, an access ramp for wheelchair users and activities with real-time translation into Pounds.

"Reading awakens creativity and the ability to dream, as well as intensifying interest in learning new things and improving a range of other skills, stimulating the development of knowledge, which is one of the greatest assets we carry with us. With this project, we want to reinforce, with the children and young people of Catalão and the region, the importance of reading and also of education for building the future," says Lisiane Feltraco, CMOC Brasil's Social Management coordinator.

The project has already toured the country in two other editions, in 2018 and 2022, with a total reach of almost 150,000 people. For this edition, the expectation is to reach around 70,000 people and the project will pass through the states of Goiás, Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, stimulating reading and culture.

The initiative was conceived by VR Projetos, through the Federal Culture Incentive Law (Law No. 8.313/1991) and is sponsored by CMOC Brasil, with the aim of promoting reading and various cultural manifestations in an itinerant way.
