In the afternoon of March 8
th local time, Mr. Sun Ruiwen, CEO of CMOC, visited Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde Kyenge, the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (the “DRC”), in Kinshasa.
Mr. Sun gave an overview of the TFM expansion and KFM development projects in the DRC by CMOC and exchanged ideas and discussed with the Prime Minister about the vision and plan to grow the value chain of new energy metals in the country together with strategic partners.
The Prime Minister Lukonde highly recognized the contributions CMOC has long been making to areas including state treasury and community development in the DRC and encouraged and welcomed further investment by CMOC in the DRC. The Prime Minister affirmed that CMOC is an important partner to the DRC government, and the two major projects of TFM and KFM, with a potential total investment of several billions of US dollars, are key projects of national interest to the DRC government. He is looking forward to expedition of the projects and creation of more local job opportunities to drive greater social and economic growth in the country. The Prime Minister stressed that the DRC government is committed to building a sound and stable business environment for companies. He was also very clear about his instructions on recent mining royalty payment discussions that under leadership of relevant government authorities and in line with international practice, world-recognized third-party will be engaged by the two parties to perform evaluations to ensure a fair and just resolution, protection of investors’ interests, and win-win cooperation.
