This year marks the 25th anniversary of our Northparkes Copper and Gold Mine in New South Wales, Australia. On June 24, 2020, Northparkes celebrated the milestone of its 400th shipment. In just over 25 years, Northparkes has produced 1.168 million tons of copper and 1.464 million ounces of gold.

Northparkes operation is made up of an underground block cave mine, a sub-level cave and an ore processing plant which produces high-grade copper concentrate for export to China and Japan. It owns over 10,000 ha of land; mining operations occupy 1,630 ha and the remaining area operates as a commercial agricultural and logistics operation.

Northparkes Managing Director Hubert Lehman expressed thanks to all the employees and the communities. “To all the people who work here today and to those that have come and gone, each and every single one of you has played an integral role in contributing to the milestone. I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank you for your hard work and dedication to our operations. I also would like to formally extend my thanks to both the local communities of Parkes and Forbes for their continued support enabling us to achieve this milestone,” said Hubert.

Northparkes is an operation with huge potentials. In July 2020, CMOC announced that it will receive a US$550 million upfront cash payment through a metal streaming agreement with Triple Flag Precious Metals Corp. In return, CMOC has committed to deliver an amount of gold and silver calculated by reference to a percentage of gold and silver produced from the Northparkes Mine. This transaction manifests CMOC’s full confidence in Northparkes’ operational consistency and resource longevity. We are looking forward to a bright future of our Northparkes Mine!
