On Friday, July 17, 2020, together with China Embassy in D.R. Congo and the Federation of companies of Congo (FEC), Tenke Fungurume Mining (TFM), subsidiary of CMOC in the DRC donated anti-epidemic supplies to the Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi Foundation, actively responding to the community’s concerns.
The donated supplies of 10,000 masks, 300 boxes of disinfectants, 300 boxes of hydroalcoholic gels and 50 infrared thermometers will be primarily intended for the health and safety issues of women and children concerned by the Denise Foundation.
Ms. Denise, First Lady of the DRC, Mr. Zhu Jing, ambassador of People's Republic of China to the DRC and the TFM delegation attended the donation ceremony held at the headquarters of the Denise Foundation.
Mr. Kapanga, director of CMOC Congo said: “TFM is an important partner of Congo. This donation demonstrates our solidarity with the community. The company is willing to help overcome the difficulties and to support Congo in the fight against the COVID-19. "
Ms. Denise, First Lady and initiator of the Foundation highly praised TFM for its positive response to her call for solidarity in favor of communities.
TFM has always paid great attention to the health of Congolese people and of community residents, whether they live in or outside the mining area. Since the DRC confirmed the first case of coronavirus in the country on March 10, 2020, TFM actively responded to the needs of the national and provincial governments by donating US$ 400,000 and lending an ambulance to the Lualaba Province for the fight against COVID-19. TFM also provided testing tools and promoted epidemic prevention and control measures to communities. TFM and its subcontractors donated for several times the anti-epidemic supplies to Tenke and Fungurume authorities where the mining is located. All these actions have showcased TFM's commitment to support the economic and social development of the DRC, reflecting the corporate responsibility of CMOC.
