For over two decades, Northparkes has helped with the growth of the Parkes and Forbes Shires. Not only has it delivered hundreds of jobs, it has also contributed significant economic strength to the local economy. Over the last 25 years, thousands of Northparkes employees have called the region home and have become an integral part of the local community.

Through an array of funding programs and partnerships, Northparkes has been able to deliver improved outcomes that have made a lasting difference to the communities of Parkes and Forbes. Earlier this year, Northparkes announced the approval of the E26 Lift 1 North Project and the Expansion Project. A total of $300M will be invested in Northparkes over a three year period to support these projects. This investment demonstrates CMOC’s confidence in the sustainability and longevity of Northparkes.

CMOC Executive Chairman Steele Li said: “When CMOC had the opportunity to purchase Northparkes back in 2013, they recognised the potential in not only the business and its future, but the people. CMOC are excited to watch Northparkes continue to grow and develop. Northparkes plays a pivotal role in their strong and long-term presence in Australia and as an internationally renowned mining company.

Northparkes Mines Managing Director Hubert Lehman said: “We know the exploration potential of Northparkes and we believe we will discover more copper and gold deposits to take us even further into the future. Northparkes is the world’s most automated underground block-cave mine and we are proud of our history and achievements. We will continue to focus on our commitment towards our local communities as we strive towards achieving our vision of a century of mining together.”
