TFM donated school supplies to over 20,000 students in its mining concession

CMOC’s subsidiary company Tenke Fungurume Mining donated school supplies to 20,000 students in its mining concession. The donation ceremony took place on the commencement day of school in Lualaba province on Monday, September 2, 2019. Mr. Jules Kabwit, Provincial Minister of Education, has been present on the ceremony on behalf of Mr. Muyej Eat Mans, governor of Lualaba province. The alcalde of Fungurume, officials of provincial Ministry of Education, Mr. Zhou Jun, general director of TFM, and Mr. Jules Kabwit, Minister of Education, marched on the podium to highlight the merits of education for the region and for the nation. On the ceremony, 15 primary finalists that would continue their technical studies at the Mutoshi Technical Institute in Kolwezi have been awarded scholarships funded by TFM.

As part of its social responsibility, Tenke Fungurume Mining has launched several programs focusing on different aspects of community development, including health, agriculture, education, etc. In the education sector, TFM  makes efforts on the sustainability of its investment in the community. The company has built 17 schools in its concession, granted scholarships including the prestigious Mutoshi scholarship initiating since 2010 with a list of 160 students. Since 2010, the company hosts 90 trainees each year within the framework of its professional internship program. Education needs everyone's involvement. "Receiving education is a fundamental right and constitutes one of the major pillars of sustainable development", recalled the general director of TFM in his speech.
